| “The TBEST is a state of the art assessment instrument which is based on the construct of task-based language teaching. While national curriculum and syllabus specifications in many countries including China are increasingly based on this construct, there has been a failure to develop instruments that directly assess the ability of students to carry out communicative tasks. The TBEST will fill a major gap in the field by providing a direct assessment instrument. It will be used for a range of purposes, not only for certification and records of achievement, but also for placement in classes, feedback on progress, information on learners' strengths and weaknesses, and student self-assessment.” |
